Our Matariki Feast

We really enjoyed reading Daniel's Matariki Feast and the discussions we had around how we celebrate special occasions with family and friends.

Paparoa Range were lucky enough to have our own Matariki feast at Blackball site and spent the afternoon making stars and poi while we waited for the food to cook.

Mr Maunder checking to see if the kai is cooked.

The cooked food ready to be served.

Shantytown visit

Room 7 have been getting ready for Matariki and our school hangi.  Last Friday Rooms 2 and 7 visited Shantytown and took part in their Matariki programme.  Here are some photos of what we did...
Flying our Matariki kites.

Nanny Lucy demonstrating how to use poi.

Cheyenne and Elijah (our oldest Room 2 student and youngest Room 7 student) planting Paparoa Range's ti kouka in Shantytown's new bush clearing.  We can't wait to  come back and see how much our tree has grown!

Tens frames

The Pentagons group have been learning about tens frames.  We know a tens frame has ten spaces but they are really hard to draw!  You can see our hard mahi in our maths books.  Can you see our best attempts?
